Your life at Wellness Pet
Reporting to the National Sales Manager, this newly created role will play an important part in our strategy as they manage and develop our wholesale channel in Australia and New Zealand. This will include multi-site operators (MSOs), and independent pet specialty stores (IPS). Additionally, the role will involve new business development to expand our market presence. We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven National Account Manager with experience in the pet industry to join our team and help shape the future of our brand.
What You’ll Accomplish
- Sales Strategy Development: Design and implement strategies to drive wholesale sales and achieve revenue targets, identifying new market opportunities and fostering relationships with MSOs, buying groups, and wholesalers. Building JBPs and directing investment towards growth and excellence in store execution in a multi-tiered distribution chain.
- Customer Relationship Management: Manage and execute sales strategies for assigned wholesale customers and MSO groups, driving growth, market penetration, and brand advocacy.
- Collaboration: Work closely with state sales managers to activate and assist store-level promotional programs. Support national promotions and channel activations by collaborating with the National Account team.
- Marketing and Promotion: Partner with the marketing team to develop and execute promotional campaigns targeted at wholesale customers and MSO groups.
- Product Expertise: Maintain deep knowledge of our product range and industry trends to effectively communicate value to customers.
- Reporting: Monitor and analyze sales performance by key accounts, prepare reports, and present insights to the National Sales Manager.

In addition, for this specific role, we need someone who is an entrepreneurial self-starter with strong industry knowledge, an eye for detail, and a passion for the pet industry. You should also bring:
- 10+ years in commercial roles in FMCG industry, including 3+ years of experience as an Account Manager or Business Development Manager within the pet industry is a requirement.
- Demonstrated strong understand of 4C’s of sales and 4 P’s of marketing and how to leverage them to drive growth at retail level
- Established relationships and fieldwork experience with key players, retailers, and customers in the pet industry.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
- Proven success of growing brands sustainably in a customer or wholesaler management role with strong entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong Excel skills and ideally Microsoft BI skills and demonstrated in the past how to use data to conceptually sell to customers and grow businesses.
- Valid driver’s license and flexibility for intrastate and NZ travel.
