Reporting directly to the Country Manager, the National Sales Manager will be a critical leader responsible for delivering growth across customers and channels to build share of our key brands in Australia and New Zealand. Based at our Pymble office, this role will oversee the National Accounts (Petbarn, PETstock), eCommerce, Wholesale, and FDM channels, driving gross sales and profitability. With 6 direct reports and oversight of the field team, you will manage key accounts across ANZ, lead business development initiatives, and ensure we exceed sales targets and expand our market presence. We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented leader with proven experience in the pet industry and eCommerce to help shape the future of our brand.
What You’ll Accomplish
- Driving Growth: Achieve and exceed sales targets by driving gross sales ahead of the category across all channels, including National Accounts, eCommerce, Wholesale, and FDM. Focus on building market share for our key brands.
- Team Development: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Account Managers and field sales representatives, ensuring high performance and professional growth. Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture.
- Customer & Channel Management: Oversee relationships with key accounts, including Petbarn, PETstock, and eCommerce platforms, identifying opportunities for growth and driving brand advocacy. Manage accounts across Australia and New Zealand, expanding our reach and building long-term partnerships.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, driving general expansion into emerging channels and regions. Support strategic growth in the Wholesale channel and strategic incursions into FDM.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team and other departments to align promotional campaigns, product launches, and channel activations. Support state sales managers in executing store-level initiatives.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze sales data and market trends to make informed decisions and provide strategic insights to the Country Manager. Develop accurate sales forecasts and budgets to support business growth.

About You
We are looking for a strategic, entrepreneurial leader with a strong background in sales within the pet industry. You should bring:
- 10+ years of experience in sales, with 5+ years in a leadership role within the pet industry or a related FMCG sector.
- Proven success in driving gross sales ahead of the category, with a track record of delivering growth across multiple channels.
- Experience in pet specialty in Australia and a strong understanding of eCommerce (not necessarily pet-specific).
- In-depth knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand pet market, including established relationships with key players and customers.
- Strong strategic planning and negotiation skills, with experience in building JBPs and long-term partnerships.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels.
- Proven ability to drive revenue growth through both existing accounts and new business development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis, and ideally, experience with Microsoft BI.
- Valid driver’s license and flexibility for interstate and NZ travel.
