Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager is a full-time salaried position. The main responsibilities of this position are to manage and direct all engineering and maintenance activities to ensure maximum operational potential is realized. This includes all engineering and maintenance functions: Departmental budgeting, operation of computerized maintenance management systems, preventive/predictive maintenance programs, electrical projects, building design and machinery schematics, electronics programming, CAD drawings, environmental, utilities, and overall maintenance and operation of the building and grounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage costs through effective budget planning and management with an aggressive approach to maintenance.
  • Protects assets against loss through development, implementation and monitoring of appropriate and comprehensive predictive and preventive maintenance programs and practices.
  • Determines and formulates project parameters/requirements and translates them into an actionable plan by a team of workers
  • Responsible for scheduling project tasks according to a set timeline
  • Supports the development of specifications and design for each project
  • Trains key personnel on effective maintenance practices, including effective use of a maintenance management system, problem solving tools, maintenance scheduling and analysis of maintenance related data and equipment histories.
  • Coordinates major maintenance project requirements with manufacturing production to include major downtime activities and downtime periods.
  • Responsible for responding to any client complaints, concerns or requests throughout the project
  • Establishes commission, quality control task, managing/developing budgets/estimates, as well as plans for the life span of the project
  • Sets and evaluates departmental goals and objectives through a collaborative effort with production, factory staff and the Leadership Team.
  • Conducts special studies as assigned or self-initiated to improve departmental services, factory operations, safety and satisfying external requirements.
  • Determines the need for construction management based on project
  • Determines and formulates project parameters/requirements and translates them into an actionable plan by a team of workers
  • Provides direction for maintaining and operating all physical equipment in conjunction with the factory manufacturing operations to support daily operations.
  • Develops department employee relations by continued communication of all information affecting them. This is further enhanced by personal participation in the factory Safety Committee.
  • Promote and coordinate on-going technical and management developmental programs to improve job performance and enhance potential through attendance at seminars, vendor information, on-site technical training, technical certifications, and professional society memberships.
  • Participate in audits and assist in the development of procedures & corrective actions.
  • Work with Department Leads on maintaining organized, clean, and safe work areas and equipment.
  • Evaluate all departmental production and packing needs for capital equipment.
  • Work in concert with the Leadership Team to ensure full compliance on all safety, environmental, sanitation, and regulatory issues. This includes OSHA, EPA, GMP, FDA, and all other local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned

Safety

  • Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to the Operations Manager.
  • Responsible to participate in mandatory safety training program requirements.
  • Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries.

Quality & Food Safety

  • Completes quality and food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Responsible to participate in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements.
  • Preserves the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined in the Quality Policy Manual. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies.
  • Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.

Position Requirements

  • This position is ideal for an individual with experience in Packaging/Mechanical Operation, Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics/Controls, HVAC, Compressed Air, and PLC experience with a desire to lead.
  • AutoCAD
  • Industrial Refrigeration Operator Level 1, Certificate (Preferred, Not Required)
  • Bachelor’s level or technical education required.
  • Able to communicate well; can read and write in English, as well as follow verbal instructions.
  • Strong computer (PC) skills, with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
  • Able to work with regular exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils and greases.
  • Good math and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
  • Up-to-date with IIAR6 and after.
